duct cleaning

One of the most commonly asked questions we receive is “how often should I clean my ducts?” Ducts are used to distribute hot and cool air throughout your home. Most people have air moving through their ducts almost every day of the year. Regular filter replacement helps a lot when it comes to maintaining clean ducts, but air filters don’t stop everything and ducts can get dirty over time. We suggest getting your ducts cleaned every three to five years. When having your ducts cleaned, it is best to use a qualified technician with the right kind of equipment. The equipment used must be powerful enough to clean but gentle enough that it will not cause damage to your ducts. A good duct cleaning system will have a rotating brush with a powerful vacuum system built-in so that the brush can scrub the interior of the duct and the vacuum can remove any build up inside the duct. Be cautious of using machines that rotate at too high of speeds. They can cause damage to your duct. It is recommended to use a brush that rotates at a speed of between 400-500 revolutions per minute to maintain a safe but effective cleaning method. Not only is it a good idea to get your ducts clean, but a good cleaning system can show you proof that it is done right. That is why at Ameritrue, we show you video footage that your ducts are clean and ready to provide the clean air you need.

AIR sterilization

Homes built prior to 1990 were not known to be very energy efficient, but they
had enough air moving through to prevent major problems with mold, mildew, and other air allergens. Now that homes are very “tight” and energy efficient, it has caused an issue with the potential for mold growth. Mold produces tiny spores, which when entering your ventilation system, can be spread throughout your home and into your air you breathe. To combat this issue, you may want to consider an air sterilization system. There are a few different kinds of systems to sterilize the air in your home. The system we prefer most is the use of ultraviolet (UV) germicidal lights, better known as Germicidal UVC technology. This technology is an efficient and cost effective method to sterilize your air. The light energy produced from this system successfully eliminates fungi, bacteria, viruses, spores, dust mites and parasites from entering your ventilation system and spreading throughout your home.

high efficiency filters

With as much time as most people spend indoors, it is important to get the best air
possible to breathe. The Environmental Protection Agency has noted “a growing body of scientific evidence has indicated that the air within homes and other buildings can be more seriously polluted than the outdoor air in even the largest and most industrialized cities. Other research indicates that people spend approximately 90 percent of their time indoors. Thus, for many people, the risks to health may be greater due to exposure to air pollution indoors than outdoors.” https://www.epa.gov/indoor-air-quality-iaq/inside-story-guide-indoor-air-quality. A high efficiency furnace filtration system can help reduce the pollutants in the air and make the indoor air quality much better than a standard
filtration system.
